About the Position
We are looking for a talented Data Engineer to join our team. This role is ideal for a self-directed engineer passionate about data engineering, architecture, and scalable data solutions. You will be responsible for designing and maintaining data pipelines, ensuring seamless data access for multiple users, and supporting data-driven decision-making.
The Data Engineer will collaborate closely with consultants, data scientists, AI/ML services, and web-based applications. You will work with cloud-based technologies, data ingestion techniques, and engineering frameworks that maximize the value of data.
This is a role located in Buenos Aires.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain sustainable data pipelines for firm-wide data sets, supporting discovery and consumption.
- Ensure data access for users, applications, and services to make informed decisions and optimize business cases.
- Identify critical gaps and develop ETL processes to facilitate seamless data flow.
- Act as a domain expert in stored data and its use cases.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering roles.
- 4+ years of experience with RDBMS (e.g., Postgres, MySQL, Oracle).
- 2+ years of experience building data solutions on Azure and other analytical platforms.
- 3+ years of experience architecting database topologies across multiple formats.
- 2+ years of experience working with complex schemas and managing views into data.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with data quality processes and ensuring data is fit for purpose.
- Medium-level expertise in NoSQL, columnar databases, and data sharding solutions.
- Medium-level expertise in benchmarking and performance tuning of data solutions.
- Medium-level expertise in writing high-performance data queries and associated database designs.
- Basic working knowledge of at least one NoSQL database.
- Basic working knowledge of RESTful API design.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to craft innovative solutions.
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal); proficiency in other languages is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively and influence decision-making.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment (remote and on-site as needed).
Qualifications
- Deep understanding of design implications across datasets.
- Expertise in managing sparse data sets, storage mechanics, and analytical application requirements.
- Experience managing data lifecycles (archiving, access, cost) and communicating these concerns to stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate across teams to ensure data remains meaningful and useful.
- Meticulous attention to detail in data management, query performance, and data monitoring.
- Strong sense of quality and attention to detail.
